Raiders undefeated in SWAC

SWAC basketball season continued last week when Maple Creek traveled to Herbert on January 14 and came out with a 73-61 victory. The Rebels were led in scoring by Brett Gustafson and Mario Ladoceur with 17 points and Thabo Mthembu with 16 points. Herbert's leading scorers were Cory Braun with 20 and Colton Unger with 14 points.

In girls' action, Maple Creek traveled to Frontier for a make up game on Jan. 12. The hometown Raiders won a decisive 98-21 victory led by Hailey Coakley with 36 points and Janelle Bennett with 21 points. Replying for Maple Creek was Kassie Chabot with 11 points.

On Thursday the Raiders hosted the Swift Current Junior Ardens where the Raiders remained unbeaten with a 76-40 victory. Leading scorers for Frontier were Hailey Coakley with 27 points and Kaitlyn Heggestad with 18. Replying for the Junior Ardens were Leah Teulon with 17 and Jackie Seidler with 12 points.

In the last game of the week, the Herbert girls hosted Maple Creek and came away with a 65-34 victory. The Laurels were led by Kim Doll with 28 points and Chelsea Redekop with nine. Replying for Maple Creek was Kelsey Abbot with 13 points.

There are no games scheduled for this upcoming week due to exams and the playoffs will begin February 9th with the semi-finals.
