Tribe only one win away from WMBL championship series
Swift Current Indians
The Swift Current Indians will look to punch their tickets to the Western Major Baseball League championship series tonight when they host the Regina Red Sox at 7:05 p.m. at Mitchell Field.
The Indians took a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series with a 7-5 win in Regina Friday.
The Tribe used a five-run third inning, capped by a three-run home run from Hunter Owen, to win a second straight road game in as many days.
Sean Callegari got the win on the mound, allowing seven hits, four walks, and five runs, only two that were earned, over five innings. Mike Frericks, Chad Kim, and Zach Manley all made scoreless relief appearances to lock down the victory.
The Indians only had seven hits in the game but they did get on base with seven walks. Catcher Kevin Bettencourt helped lead the offense with a double, two singles, and a run scored at the bottom of the order. Leadoff man Josh Johnson walked twice and scored a pair of runs as well. Eric Sams singled twice, knocked home a run, and scored a run.
