The Swift Current Indians dropped another close game Saturday as their losing streak reached three games in a 7-6 loss to the host Medicine Hat Mavericks.
The Mavericks scored four runs in the first inning before the Indians fought back to lead 6-4 only to allow three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning in the loss.
Marc-Andre Habeck made the start and allowed two hits, one walk, and four runs in one inning of work. Connor Harris worked 6.1 innings and allowed five hits and two runs while striking out four in the loss.
Eros Modena led the Tribe with two hits, three runs batted in, and a run scored. Darren Kolk added two hits, two RBI, and a run scored as well. Leadoff man Josh Johnson had a pair of hits and came around to score, while Matt Spillman scored a pair of runs.
The Indians dropped to 23-16 but continue to lead the Central Division by three games over Moose Jaw. Medicine Hat improved to 22-16 with their fourth consecutive win.
The Tribe are now off until Wednesday when they host the Yorkton Cardinals in the first of five straight home games over their final seven games of the regular season.
