The Swift Current Indians equalled a season best six games in a row with a huge 5-1 win over the visiting Lethbridge Bulls on Monday night.

Swift Current is now 9-1 in their last 10 games and they improve to 21-13 on the season after tying their season series with the Bulls at 2-2.

Tribe starting pitcher Steve Thompson had a commanding performance in improving to 3-2 on the season, throwing a two hitter over seven innings of work. The San Jose, California product now leads the Indians with a 1.78 ERA. Robbie DeVries allowed only a single hit during a one inning relief appearance in the eighth, while Zach Manley gave up an unearned run in the ninth after an infield error and a wild pitch contributed to Lethbridge's lone run.

Swift Current opened a 1-0 lead in the first inning, with Josh Johnson hitting a lead off single, stealing second, advancing to third on a double steal, and scoring on a Eric Sams single.

A two-run home run by Hunter Owen lifted the Indians into a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning.

Swift Current capitalized on a pair of mistakes by the Lethbridge defence to extend their lead to 5-0 in the sixth inning when Hunter Owen scored from first on a Bulls infield error, and Taylor Steen scored on a pass ball.

The Tribe enjoy a rare day off on Tuesday but are back in action on Wednesday at Mitchell Field when they host Moose Jaw in a key Central Division showdown.
