A four home run performance was not enough to keep the Swift Current Indians from dropping an 8-5 decision to the visiting Saskatoon Yellow Jackets at Mitchell Field on Wednesday night.

Swift Current could not overcome a disastrous third inning where an infield error kept a Saskatoon two out rally alive, and Saskatoon's Jake Moore made the Tribe pay with a grand slam home run and pushing the Yellow Jackets into a 6-1 lead.

The loss squandered a four home run performance by the Tribe. Josh Johnson hit the second pitch of the bottom of the first inning out of the park for a solo shot to tie the inning at 1-1. Eros Modena hit a two-out solo shot in the third inning, Kevin Bettencourt launched a solo homer in the fourth, while Hunter Owen smashed a two-run home run in the fifth to pull the Indians to within 6-5 after five innings.

Saskatoon added singles in the sixth and eighth innings to post the victory.

Tribe starter Peter Irvin took the loss after being charged with seven runs on six hits during five and one third innings of work.

Saskatoon starter Andrew Malone picked up with win despite giving up five runs on nine hits during five innings of work.

The loss ends a modest three game Swift Current winning streak as the Tribe falls to 15-13 and into a tie for the Moose Jaw Miller Express in the Central Division standings. With the win Saskatoon improves to 11-16 and sits only three and a half games back of both Swift Current and Saskatoon in the Central standings.

Swift Current will be looking to get back on track on Thursday night when they host the Regina Red Sox at 7:05 p.m. at Mitchell Field. Regina is the runaway leader in the East Division with a 19-10 record and they come into the game on a four game winning streak after beating Melville 13-1 on Wednesday.
