The Swift Current Indians are streaking again after earning an 8-3 road victory over the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets on Monday night in Western Major Baseball League action.
Swift Current erased a 3-2 deficit with a four run effort in the fifth inning and a pair of insurance runs in the sixth while posting back-to-back wins.
Eric Sams blasted his first home run of the season for the game winning hit in just his fourth game in the line-up. The infielder from Apopka, Florida launched a two-run home run to kick off a four run fifth inning.
Josh Johnson gave the Indians a 2-0 lead in the second inning when he hit a bases loaded single to score Hunter Owen and Taylor Steen.
Saskatoon scored all their runs in the third inning when right fielder Bryan Heward connected for a three run home run.
Swift Current regained their lead in the fifth inning, with Sams home run followed by a two run double by Michael Eberle.
The Tribe tagged on a pair of insurance runs in the sixth inning. Johnson hit a lead off double and later scored on an Eros Modena single. Modena later scored on a Hunter Owen double.
Marc-Andre Habeck won his second start of the season for the Tribe, allowing eight hits and striking out three during seven strong innings. Chad Kim pitched the final two innings, allowing only a single hit while striking out two.
Saskatoon's Steven Latos took the loss on the mound after giving six runs on eight hits during four and two third innings of work.
The Tribe are now 7-6 in opponent's stadiums after earning back-to-back games on the road.
Swift Current ends their current five game road swing in Moose Jaw tonight with a Central Division first place showdown with the Miller Express. The 14-12 Indians take on the 15-12 Miller Express starting at 7:05 at Ross Wells Park.
