After losing their first four games of the Western Major Baseball League season, the Swift Current Indians are now riding a four-game winning streak after a 12-2 win over the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets on Wednesday.
The Tribe trailed 2-0 after three innings but scored five runs in the sixth inning to lead 6-2 and then added six runs in the ninth inning.
Francisco Pena earned the win with six innings of eight-hit ball, allowing one walk and two earned runs with three strikeouts. Connor Harris pitched three scoreless innings in relief.
Nathan Ackerman homered for a second straight game since joining the team and finished with two hits, three runs batted in, and a run scored. Liam Goodall also hit a home run as he finished with two hits, two RBI, and two runs scored. Shortstop Hunter Owen walked twice, tripled and singled and came around to score three runs.
The Tribe have now outscored their opponents 38-11 during their current four-game winning streak.
The Indians now trail the Moose Jaw Miller Express by one game for the Central Division lead with a 4-4 record. They will be back in action Friday when they host the Yellow Jackets at 7:05 p.m. at Mitchell Field.
