Odgers will join Simon headlining Field of Dreams fundraiser

The 2014 Swift Current Indians Baseball Club Field of Dreams Dinner presented by Innovation Credit Union is set to take place Friday Feb 28 at the Royal Canadian Legion.

The Committee is excited to announce that joining the evening’s Keynote Speaker Geroy Simon, will be former NHL tough guy Jeff Odgers.

Jeff Odgers, father of current Swift Current Bronco forward Dakota Odgers, retired from professional hockey in 2003 after playing over 800 games in the National Hockey League for the San Jose Sharks, Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche and the Atlanta Thrashers. Mainly an enforcer, Odgers compiled a total of 2,364 penalty minutes in 821 regular season games. He also scored 75 goals and 70 assists for 145 points. Odgers served as captain of the San Jose Sharks for the latter half of the 1994-95 season and the entire 1995–96 season.

The evening will begin with cocktails at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. There will also be live and silent auctions at the end of the evening. The event is technically sold out but there is still a few individual tickets still available. The Field of Dreams has operated for 15 years, and has been a major supporter of the Swift Current Indians Baseball Club. Some of their most significant projects in support of the ball club include; initial capital for the installation of the light standards, stadium seating at Mitchell Field as well as new uniforms and equipment on a scheduled renewal plan.
