Swift Current Indians
Michael Noteware pitched a gem to lead the Swift Current Indians to their sixth straight win Saturday. Behind a complete game from Noteware, the Indians defeated the host Okotoks Dawgs for a second straight evening at Seaman Stadium in front of 2,269 fans.
Noteware allowed just one run in the first inning before holding the Dawgs scoreless for the final eight innings. The Tujanga, California native allowed just six hits with no walks and eight strikeouts to improve to 4-1 on the season.
Matt Spillman had a double and two singles at the top of the order as he scored twice and added one run batted in. Alex Schultz doubled, singled, and scored a run as well.
The game was tied 1-1 after the first inning until the Indians scored three runs in the top of the eighth.
The win improved the Indians to 25-13 as they near another Central Division title, 7.5 games up on the second-place Moose Jaw Miller Express.
The Tribe will be back at home Sunday to face the Yorkton Cardinals (12-27) at 7:05 p.m. at Mitchell Field.
