Swift Current Indians
The Swift Current Indians finally got the better of the Okotoks Dawgs. In their third attempt this season, the Tribe downed the host Dawgs 9-6 in front of 2,364 fans at Seaman Stadium.
Anthony Armanino picked up the win with four runs and seven hits allowed over seven innings with three walks and 11 strikeouts to improve to 3-0.
Seth Haehl got the final six outs, allowing two hits and two runs. He struck out Jordan Procyshen with the bases loaded to clinch the win.
Second baseman Matt Henriksen finished four-for-four with three runs batted in and a run scored to lead the offense. Danny Clifford was two-for-three with two RBI and a run scored.
The Indians’ fifth consecutive win improved their record to 24-13 as they increased their Central Division lead to seven games. Okotoks dropped to 24-10 and remain second in the West Division behind Medicine Hat.
The two teams will conclude the season series at Seaman Stadium on Saturday. The Indians will be back at home Sunday to host the Yorkton Cardinals in their third last home game of the regular season.
