2013 Swift Current Indians

The Swift Current Indians' grip on the Central Division became a little less certain with a 10-7 loss to the visiting Saskatoon Yellow Jackets Thursday.

The Indians dropped to 19-12 and have now won only four of their last 10 games. Saskatoon improved to 14-15 and moved within four games of the Indians for top spot in the division. Saskatoon combined 12 hits with six walks and two errrors in the win.

Dawson Porter led the Indians offense with three singles and a run scored. Jake Gonzalez homered for a second straight game with a two-run shot in the first inning to put the Indians out in front. Gonzalez now leads the Indians with six homeruns and 21 runs batted in. Local product Chad Schultz  got on base with three walks and stole a base as well.

Justin Kehler suffered the loss for the Tribe. Starter Fernando Pena made his debut for the Tribe, allowing four hits and three unearned runs over three innings while striking out five.

The Indians will be on the road Friday to visit the Moose Jaw Miller Express.
