2013 Swift Current Indians
The Swift Current Indians' weekend began on a sour note Friday in a 13-1 loss to the visiting Moose Jaw Miller Express.
Not much went right for the Tribe as they made three costly errors in the field and allowed 18 hits to Moose Jaw as the Miller Express became just the second team to defeat the Indians in 14 games this season at Mitchell Field.
Seth Haehl suffered the loss, allowing six runs on 11 hits and four walks while striking out five. Noah Gapp had the best performance out of three relievers, getting the final five outs without allowing a hit and striking out two.
Dustin Caplette picked up the win for Moose Jaw. He scattered eight hits over eight innings, allowing just one run and striking out three to improve to 3-1 with his second win over the Indians this season.
The Indians scored their lone run in the seventh inning when Mario Sanchez brought in Matt Henriksen to break up Caplette's shutout bid.
The Indians dropped to 11-3 at home and lowered their overall record to 17-9 as their Central Division lead shrunk to 5.5 games over Moose Jaw and Saskatoon.
The Indians will be off Saturday before heading to Saskatoon on Sunday for a matinee game against the Yellow Jackets (11-14).
