Indians win fifth straight

The Swift Current Indians won their fifth straight game with a 15-2 win over the Edmonton Prospects on Monday.

The Indians knocked out 20 hits as they sent 44 batters to the plate in the blowout win. Third baseman Alex Mortensen had four hits and scored three runs. Aaron Dunsmore hit a pair of triples, scored twice, and knocked in a pair. Catcher Will Thorp had three hits and three runs batted in as well.

Myles Ethier earned the win with five scoreless innings, allowing only two hits with four walks and two strikeouts. The Grand Prairie native lowered his earned run average to 0.90 in six appearances this season.

Mark Hendrick and Taylor MacDonell also pitched in relief.

The win improved the Indians to 14-13 and they remain atop the Western Major Baseball Laegue's Central Division. The Prospects remain last in the WMBL with a 6-21 record.

The Tribe will continue their road trip against the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets (11-16) on Tuesday.

The Indians have averaged 9.4 runs per game of offense during their five-game winning streak, while allowing only 2.8 runs per game. They currently lead the WMBL with a team batting average of .300. Their pitching staff trails only the Regina Red Sox with a 3.39 team earned run average.
