Midget Indians vs Moose Jaw Devons

The Swift Current Midget Indians scored the final five runs in a 9-4 win over the visiting Moose Jaw Devons Thursday to move to 7-9 in the Saskatchewan Premier Midget AAA Baseball League.

Zac Mackay battled his way to his league leading sixth win, allowing nine hits and four runs over six innings. He walked only the leadoff hitter and struck out seven, to lead the league with 48 strikeouts this season.

Bantam call-up BJ Moen pitched a hitless seventh inning to close things down for the Tribe.

The Indians got much of their production from the top of the lineup, including leadoff man Josh Siemens, who was three-for-four, with two runs scored and a run batted in.

Shortstop Reid Fritzke, hitting second, finished two-for-two, walked once, scored twice, and added an RBI. He is now sixth in the SPBL with a .378 average.

The Indians will be back at home Saturday to host the Saskatoon Cubs (7-9) in a twin bill beginning at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Kinsmen Field.
