Baseball will dominate a busy sports schedule in Swift Current this weekend as Swift Current Minor Baseball will host a total of 24 teams in four age divisions at their annual AA Indians Tournament from Friday to Sunday.
Teams from Saskatoon, Bethune, Weyburn, Southey, Moose Jaw, Regina, Melville, Macklin, Estevan, and Unity will all be in Swift Current this weekend to challenge four local Indians teams.
The Mosquito Indians will host five other teams this weekend. They will open the tournament on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. against the Saskatoon AAA Cardinals. They will face the Regina NRLL Royals at 1:30 p.m. and the Melville Millionaires at 4 p.m.
The semifinals are slated for Sunday at 9 a.m. and the championship game will be played at 2 p.m. All Mosquito games will be played at the Mosquito Diamonds on 19th Ave NE.
The PeeWee tournament will feature eight teams, including the host Indians.
The host team will open their tournament on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. against the Bethune Bucs at Ford Field. They will also face the Saskatoon AAA Braves on Saturday at 11 a.m. and the Saskatoon AA Braves at 4 p.m. at Ford Field. The semifinals will be played Sunday at 9 a.m. with the medal games slated for 2 p.m. at Ford Field and Riverdene.
The Bantam tournament will feature only three teams for four games on Saturday only. The Swift Current AA Bantam Indians will take on the Moose Jaw Mallards at 11 a.m. and the Regina Phillies at 4 p.m. The Bantam championship will be played at 6:30 p.m. between the top two teams in the round robin. All Bantam games will take place at the Kiwanis Diamond on 19th Ave NE.
The Swift Current Midget Indians will host six other teams for their home tournament.
They will open play on Friday against the Regina Angels at 6:30 p.m. at Mitchell Field.
They will also take on Macklin that same evening under the lights at 9 p.m.
The championship final is slated for Sunday at 2 p.m. at Mitchell Field.
