Carter Yagi hit a walk off two-run single to lift the Swift Current Indians to a 4-3 win over the visiting Moose Jaw Miller Express on June 4.

Carter Yagi cracked a two-run single with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Swift Current Indians to a 4-3 win over the visiting Moose Jaw Miller Express.

Swift Current was down to their last out and trailing by a run when Yagi singled to left field for the walk off victory. Brennan Peterson earned a one-out walk, and Jack Thompson kept the rally alive with a single with two outs. A pass ball allowed Peterson to advance to third and for pinch runner Cody Phipps to move into scoring position.

Swift Current had been held to one run on five hits through the first seven innings before they benefited from some late game heroics.

Yagi pulled the Indians to within 3-2 in the eighth inning, hitting a lead off single and scoring on an Aaron Dunsmore single.

David Greenstein opened the scoring for the Indians in the second inning, hitting a lead off single and advancing to second on an error before scoring on a Peterson single.

Indians starting pitcher Marck Hendrick made his season debut on the mound allowing two runs on four hits while striking out two over six innings of work. Larsen Kohler yielded one run on two hits and recorded three strikeouts while appearing in the seventh and eighth innings. Adam Paulencu picked up the win after closing out the game in the ninth inning, yielding two walks but striking out one. Swift Current ended a Moose Jaw ninth inning rally attempt when catcher Will Thorp threw out Moose Jaw's Scott Jones who was attempting to steal third.

Moose Jaw starter Terry McNabb had a strong eight inning effort, striking out six and allowing seven hits and just a single earned run. Ryan Paasch was tagged with the loss after giving up the tying and winning runs on two hits but he struck out two.

The Indians are now 2-1 on the season and are back in action on Wednesday again against Moose Jaw.
