Seniors from across the Southwest will be competing in a range of events at the Southwest District 55 + Summer Games in Swift Current on May 31.
As a qualifier for the 2014 55+ Saskatchewan Senior Fitness Association Provincial Games in Humboldt in July, the top finishers from the District Games will earn the right to attend provincials later this year.
Activities at the District Games includes: golf, track and field, cribbage, scrabble, whist, contract bridge, duplicate bridge, bocci, Pickle Ball, bowling, floor shuffleboard, bank shuffleboard, poetry, short stories, Kaiser, 8-Ball, Snooker, table tennis, tennis, lawn bowling, horseshoes, plus a quilt display.
All card games will be hosted at the iPlex, shuffleboard will be played at the Senior Citizens' Activity Centre, while golf will take place at the Chinook Golf Course.
Competitors register for all events at 9 a.m. at the iPlex. Lunch is provided at noon at the various competition venues. An awards banquet will be hosted at 5:30 p.m. at the iPlex, with entertainment to follow.
