15U SunDogs win provincial medal

The Swift Current 15U Male Junior SunDogs won a bronze medal at the 2014 Conexus Provincial Volleyball Championship in Saskatoon over the weekend.

The SunDogs, coached by Dan Andrie, Paul Promhouse, and Tyler Dickie, won four matches and lost four matches but won at the right time to bring home a medal.

They opened the tournament Saturday afternoon with a three-set loss to Regina Gold (18-25, 27-25, 10-15). The SunDogs rebounded with victories over Strasbourg and Regina Green (25-21, 25-19) before dropping consecutive matches to Saskatoon JCVC (24-26, 19-25) and Prince Albert (14-25, 25-22, 13-15). They added a three-set win over Regina Green on Sunday (14-25, 25-21, 15-12).

The 15U Junior SunDogs met Prince Albert in the semi-final and loss in straight sets (15-25, 17-25). They rematched with Regina Gold in the bronze medal match and lost the opening set 24-26. The SunDogs responded with 25-10 and 15-7 wins to clinch the bronze medal.

The 15U Junior SunDogs will conclude their season on May 16-18 at Westerns in Regina.
