The Swift Current 18U Junior SunDogs won their final six matches to win the Sask Cup 1 volleyball tournament in Nipawin over the weekend.
The Junior SunDogs, coached by Les Collins, lost their tournament opener to the host Nipawin team (17-25, 23-25) on Saturday morning.
They rebounded quickly to defeat Prince Albert in three sets (22-25, 25-17, 15-10) to even their record. They added a win over Lloydminster (25-21, 25-22) and then easily defeated Martensville (25-10, 25-15) before moving to 4-1 with a win over Oxbow (29-27, 25-13).
The SunDogs opened the playoffs with a three-set win over Prince Albert in the semi-final. They smashed Prince Albert 25-14 in the opening set before losing 25-27 to force a third set. The SunDogs clinched a spot in the final with a dominating 15-4 win over their northern rivals.
The 18U SunDogs got a rematch with Nipawin in the championship match and defeated them 25-10 in the first set and closed out the tournament with a 27-25 win to claim gold.
The 18U Junior SunDogs will be back in action on March 21 in Saskatoon.
