SunDogs win bronze in Warman

The Swift Current 15U Junior SunDogs women’s volleyball team placed third at the Warman Volleyball Club 15U Open over the weekend after winning four of their five matches at the one-day tournament.

The SunDogs, coached by Tyler and Chelsea Hassett, won their opener Saturday morning in straight sets (25-17, 25-19) over the Martensville Synergy.

They followed up with a decisive win over the Waldheim SVVC (25-10, 25-12) to move to 2-0. The Junior SunDogs added a comeback win over Rosetown VC (20-25, 25-18, 15-8) to finish the round robin unbeaten.

They ran into Saskatoon JCVC in the semifinal and won the opening game 25-20. The SunDogs were unable to clinch the win in a 23-25 loss in the second set before dropping the third set 10-15.

The Junior SunDogs rebounded quickly in the bronze medal match with a dominating 25-6 win over the Lloydminster Rustlers in the opening set and then edged them 25-23 to clinch bronze.
