Four Southwest high school basketball teams were ranked in the February Top 10 Rankings among the top Saskatchewan high school basketball teams in their respective classifications.
The Herbert Laurels were one of the top Southwest ranked teams in fifth spot among 1A Girls teams, the exact same spot they were slotted into in the first rankings in January. Kenaston, unranked in January, is the top ranked 1A team, followed by Middle Lake, Kinistino, and Fillmore.
The Swift Current Comp. Ardens held steady in fifth spot among 4A Girls teams. The Swift Current Comp. Colts are up two spots in the 4A Boys rankings. They were ranked eighth in January and now sit sixth. The Colts currently have a 10-9 record and will be in North Battleford for a tournament this weekend.
The Top 10 Rankings are considered interest based only and include only teams that have submitted their results to an independent group of volunteers from the Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association. They have no bearing on the seeding process for the provincial playoffs.
The road to Hoopla begins next weekend with Conference tournaments across the province, followed by Regionals on March 7-8.
Hoopla will take place in Regina on March 13-15 to determine the provincial champions in 10 different classifications.
