Shadows, Rebelles, Laurels, Ardens, and Colts all crack top-10 rankings

Five Southwest high school basketball teams were ranked in the first 1A – 4A top 10 independent rankings of the season.

Leading the way were the Shaunavon Shadows, ranked second among 3A Boys teams in Saskatchewan, trailing only Indian Head.

The Maple Creek Rebelles are ranked fourth among 3A Girls teams. Indian Head is ranked first, followed by Caronport and Clavet.

The Herbert Laurels are the fifth ranked 1A Girls team. They follow top ranked Middle Lake, Kinistino, Fillmore, and Lake Lenore.

The Swift Current Comp. Ardens have earned the fifth spot in 4A Girls. They follow undefeated Moose Jaw AE Peacock, Notre Dame, Warman, and Lumsden. The Ardens have a 12-4 record this season with one tournament championship and two second-place finishes.

The Swift Current Comp. Colts are the eighth ranked 4A Boys team. Moose Jaw AE Peacock is ranked first, followed by Weyburn and Saskatoon Marion Graham. The Colts have opened the season with a 6-6 record and have two second-place tournament finishes.

The 1A – 4A top 10 was compiled by an independent group of volunteers from the Association. This ranking is interest based and only includes the teams that have submitted their results to the Association. The top 10 ranking will not have any bearing on the seeding of conference/regional/provincial playoffs scheduled to begin February 28, 2014.
