Two Southwest competitors win events in Regina

Day five of the Canadian Cowboys’ Association Finals Rodeo featured 10 Southwest money winners as two of them clinched event titles.
Waldeck’s Tuftin McLeod was the top performer as he found the money in both of his events, including a win in Tie Down Roping. He finished Tie Down in 8.3 seconds to place first and pocket $1,500. Watch video Swift Current’s Blaine Switzer was third in 8.6 seconds for $500.
Tuftin and Scott McLeod placed third in Team Roping in 6.6 seconds for $500. Hazenmore’s Ben Switzer and Jim Gomersall (Moose Jaw) were fourth in 6.9 seconds for $250.
Hazenmore’s Chanse Cutler won Steer Riding in round five to become the CCA Finals Rodeo Champion. He won the final round with 73 points to earn $250. Watch video Maple Creek’s Brady Resch was third with 71.5 points for $125.
Mankota’s Kassidy Williamson placed second on day five of Junior Girls Barrel Racing to win the CCA Finals title. She finished in 14.61 seconds for $187.50 on Saturday. Maple Creek’s Mardi Yarshenko was third in 19.61 seconds for $125.
Piapot’s Brady Bertram wrapped up his Finals appearance with a second-place showing in Bareback. He scored 80 points for $750 on his final ride.
Maple Creek’s Ross Kreutzer rounded out the Southwest money winners with a fourth place showing in Saddle Bronc with 77.5 points for $250.
