29 SWAC runners take part in SHSAA cross country Provincials at Little Loon Park

SWAC had 29 runners participate in the SHSAA provincial cross country meet at Little Loon Park near Medstead on October 12. Conditions were cool but perfect for the runners. We had four top 15 finishers. The complete results are as follows:

Congratulations to all our runners on a fine showing! In school competition, Gull Lake finished 5th in the 1A category while Swift Current Comp finished 7th in the 4A category. We also had a strong showing as a District in the junior girls’ category where we finished 3rd overall.
The Swift Current Ardens were in Moose Jaw where they defeated Vanier 5-0 to win one of the semi finals in the MJHSAA league. Ashley Eben, Santana Gowan, Haley Bissonette, Andrea Erlandson and Leia Anderson each scored a goal. Cassandra Furey-Cameron and Hannh Dyck shared the shutout. This win moves them into the final on Tuesday October 15th where they will play Moose Jaw Central. The Ardens will also travel to Moose Jaw on Oct 18/19 where they will be taking part in SHSAA 3A girls regional soccer playoffs. If the Ardens finish in the top 2 – they will advance to the provincial finals in Regina on Oct 25/26. Good luck Ardens!
The Swift Current Colts soccer team will be hosting SHSAA 3A boys regionals on Oct. 18/19. Teams from Estevan, Weyburn, Balgonie and Moose Jaw Peacock will take part. There will be one game Friday at 3:00 followed by games Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. while the final will go at 3:00. The top 2 teams will be advancing to provincials in Saskatoon on Oct. 25/26. Good luck Colts!

The Swift Current Colts have one league game remaining. They will host Estevan on Oct. 15. Playoffs will then start for all our football teams. One playoff has already been set for 6 man football. Gull Lake Lions will host LCBI on Saturday, Oct 19 at 1:00 p.m.
Our senior volleyball leagues have 2 weeks of play left. Our host sites are:
Oct 15 – sr girls – Vanguard and Maple Creek
Oct 16 – sr boys – Vanguard and Consul
Oct 22 – sr girls – Eastend, Herbert and Frontier
Oct 23 – sr boys – Frontier and Swift Current.
Our top four teams in boys’ play after week 4 are: Frontier and Vanguard tied for 1st, Swift Current Colts 2nd, Shaunavon 3rd. In girls’ play it is Shaunavon 1st, Hazlet 2nd, Herbert 3rd, Frontier 4th. The top team in the league will get the opportunity to host the final.
