Three Southwest cowboys won events at a CCA rodeo in Melville

Junior and Novice Canadian Cowboys’ Association competitors were in action at the Melville Fair on September 14.

Southwest cowboys took three of the top four spots in Junior Steer Riding in Melville. Lancer’s Chad Hartman won the event with a 71-point ride to earn $220. Hazenmore’s Chanse Cutler placed third with a 68-point effort to claim $146. Lancer’s Cole Hartman was fourth with 66 points for $73.

Cabri’s Tyson Garrett was the only Southwest cowboy in the Novice Bareback field. He won the event with a 68-point ride to earn $201.

Leader’s Cody Resch also came out on top in Novice Saddle Bronc. He scored 73 points to tie with White City’s Tyrel Fouhse for $195.

Maple Creek’s Mardi Yarshenko was the only Southwest cowgirl in the Junior Girls Barrel Racing money. She placed fourth out of nine competitors in 19.44 seconds for $70. Wood Mountain’s Nicole Pana won the event in 17.91 seconds.

The Southwest was without a competitor in Novice Bull Riding, but JB Moen of Elrose won the event with a 72-point ride.
