This past February I had the pleasure of working with some amazing people in our community. I was in the position of Campaign Coordinator for the Heart and Stroke Foundation during their Heart Month Campaign.
This is a significant fundraising campaign for the organization that involves a door-to-door campaign, Show Your Heart, Wear What You Love and other fundraising events.
In the province of Saskatchewan, there was a record number of canvassers who registered to be a part of the door-to-door campaign this year. Locally in Swift Current, our community members played a big role in these record-breaking numbers. We surpassed our goal and had 68 canvassers register. The weather this February was not ideal for being outside, but our canvassers got out there and helped raise over $10,000 for this great cause.
I would like to extend a huge, heartfelt thanks to those canvassers and to the residents who gave generously to those people who came to their door. I would also like to acknowledge and thank our local businesses who took part in either the Wear What You Love and/or the Share Your Heart events, hosted a fundraising event of their own, or made a thoughtful donation. These businesses include, Pharmasave, Pioneer Co-op, Optical Image, Yoga Connexion, Spring Garden Restaurant, Days Inn, Bentley Retirement Community, Walker Place, and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 56.
I look forward to working with our local community to raise funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation again next Heart Month.
