I’m a resident of the Swift Current Care Centre, and I have some questions.
On Friday, January 10th , 2014, why did we have an extra cleaning person and the kitchen had two extra people on staff at dinner time when ordinarily we have a bare minimum staff or are short-staffed? Was it because we were having three guests from the Ministry of Health as well as Premier Wall and other important people to be present for the ‘grand opening’ of the Alzheimer office at the Care Centre?
Why were our white serviettes replaced with fancy but dismal black ones?
Why were the bibs taken away from the men who appreciated them to protect their clothing from accidental spills?
Why is our laundry going to be trucked to Calgary or is it all ready being done?
Why can’t the staff who eat in the basement be allowed to bring their dishes to the kitchen and place them in the dish washer?
Why can’t we go back to a single table that seats four at meal times where at least we could visit and enjoy each other’s company? Now with two tables put together it does away with the camaraderie.
Why is it when we need staff only certain people are called to see if they are available?
Yes, I could ask more questions and yes, I would like some answers. It hurts me to see how much is expected of our minimum staff and it is even more distressing on days when we are short-staffed. Why isn’t this need for more staffing being addressed? Why?
However, to close on a positive note... It is 2014, a brand new year, filled with hope and optimism, and I sincerely hope and pray that more staff will be added to the Care Centre to ease the burden of our present staff and boost the morale of staff and residents alike.
