On behalf of the Terry Fox Run committee, I’d like to thank all the volunteers and participants who attended last Sunday’s run.
The Terry Fox Run operates on a zero budget, so we rely on the kindness of local merchants, organizations and volunteers to make our run a success. Because of this true “grassroots” effort, the Terry Fox Foundation is able to allocate 84 per cent of all money raised to cancer research. In an era of cutbacks and rising cancer incidence rates, this money is of great value to all Canadians.
Terry’s wish was for every Canadian to donate one dollar toward cancer research. Our run raised $1,060 this year, so if you would still like to donate, please consider donating on line at www.terryfox.org.
Many schools will host their runs at the end of September; students would be delighted to receive your support as they celebrate Terry’s legacy in their school community.
Again, we thank all those who helped make this year’s run a success. Together we can make a difference.
