STC minister Don McMorris had a chance in his recent letter to the editor to stand up for the people of southwest Saskatchewan and support the continuation of the Eastend-Swift Current-Mossbank bus route. Instead, he delivered more spin and PR to justify the short-sighted decision to cancel the route.
Your NDP MLAs have heard from people in the region and read your letters to the editor. We understand that individuals, businesses and non-profit groups in the area rely on STC and will be hurt by this cut.
Whether it’s one of our grandmas using STC to get to a medical appointment, a producer using STC to ship equipment parts or the Victoria’s Quilts charity sending their gifts to cancer sufferers, the loss of STC will impact people’s quality of life, and their wallets.
There is still time for the SaskParty to agree to a common sense solution to keep STC sustainable in our growing province. Abandoning residents, small businesses and charities should not be an option -- and I encourage the SaskParty government to join the NDP in listening to the people of the region who know the real value of this bus route.
