**********Update*****************

Police on scene have made initial observations of the motor vehicle collision on Old Hwy 35, north of Nipawin.

17 year old male driving a car westbound crossed Hwy 35 into oncoming traffic that was travelling southbound.  The second vehicle is a 1 ton flat deck truck transporting live honey bees driven by a 16 year old male.   The flat deck hit the car on the passenger side causing the flat deck truck to roll once and the car to spin around on the highway and into the ditch.

The driver of the car has sustained serious head injuries and is being transported to Saskatoon by ground EMS.  Alcohol is not a factor.  No names are being released.  Investigation is continuing.

The highway has now been cleared of debris and is open to traffic.

North Battleford RCMP

2014-07-24

4:40 p.m.

 

On Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of the North Battleford Provincial General Investigation Section and North Battleford Muncipal RCMP conducted a traffic stop on 101st Street in North Battleford which led to the arrest of a 27 year old male. A quantity of cannabis marihuana was seized from the vehicle.

 

At approximately 10:00 p.m., members of the North Battleford Provincial General Investigation Section, North Battleford Police Dog Service, and Battlefords Rural RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on the Sweetgrass First Nation. A quantity of cannabis marihuana and cash was seized. The total amount of the cannabis marihuana seized was approximately one pound, four ounces.

 

As a result of this investigation, Andrew Albert, a 27 year old male from the Sweetgrass First Nation, and Terrance Watson, a 34 year old male also from the Sweetgrass First Nation were arrested and charged with the following:

 

Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking - Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

 

Trafficking in Marihuana - Section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

 

Possession of the Proceeds of Crime  - Section 354(1)(a) and 355(b) of the Criminal Code

 

Both have since been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in North Battleford on August 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.

 

Investigations such as this are key to taking drugs off the streets of our communities.

Watrous/Saskatoon RCMP

2:00 p.m.

 

On Wednesday, July 23, 2014, Watrous and Saskatoon RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a single vehicle collision just before 11:00 a.m. on Highway #2, in the southbound lane, seven miles north of Young.

 

Upon arrival, RCMP members saw an eight passenger van upright in a shallow slough on the west side of the highway.  Fire and EMS were also on scene.  One male passenger from the van was airlifted by STARS to hospital in Saskatoon with undetermined injuries. The seven other passengers were transported to hospital in Watrous as a precaution and were subsequently released.

 

Traffic in both directions was re-opened shortly after 1:00 p.m.

Shaunavon RCMP

1:10 p.m.

On Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at approximately 8:12 p.m., Shaunavon RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision in a rural area near Ravenscrag, Saskatchewan.

A 16-year-old male and a 10-year-old male, both from the Ravenscrag area, were travelling on a gravel road in a four-wheel-drive tractor towing a bailer. As they travelled east down a hill, the tractor left the road and entered the south ditch, which is very steep and rough. The 10-year-old male was ejected from the tractor. The tractor then entered a ravine and the 16-year-old male was ejected. Both males were located deceased at the scene.

The names of the deceased will not be released at this time.

An RCMP Traffic Analyst is currently on scene and the investigation into this collision is ongoing.

Saskatoon RCMP

12:00 p.m.

 

On July 24, 2014, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Saskatoon RCMP members responded to a complaint of a mobile home fire on Garfield Street in Hanley, Sask.

 

Emergency personnel attended the residence, which was nearly burnt to the ground. A 45-year-old male, the lone occupant of the home, was unaccounted for.

 

Human remains were located inside the residence by Hanley Fire Services. The remains could not be identified and an autopsy has been ordered as requested by the Office of the Chief Coroner.

 

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation through the Provincial Fire Commissioners Office and the Saskatoon RCMP. There are no photos available.

Rose Valley/Kelvington RCMP

The Rose Valley / Kelvington RCMP and Crime Stoppers are seeking assistance from the public in solving the following crime which happened between the 9:00 PM on July 13th, 2014, and 6:30 AM on July 14th 2014. During this time a group of unknown persons caused damage to the front of the Kelvington Elementary School.  The unknown persons also stole multiple solar garden lights from residences in the town of Kelvington.  The unknown persons then broke the lights and proceeded to throw the broken lights in other yards or on the street. Rose Valley / Kelvington RCMP continue their investigation.

During this time unknown person(s) entered a seasonal cabin located within Greenwater Provincial Park, stole a large flat screen TV and fled in an unknown direction. Over 40 calls for service/occurrences reported including 4 Traffic complaint/occurrences, 2 False/Nuisance 911 calls, 3 Municipal Bylaw/Noise complaints, 3 False Alarms,

741 am - First of seven, what are believed to be related complaints of damage to vehicles.  Suspect(s) damaged the windows to several parked cars at numerous locations in the city, including Walker Drive, 2100 block of 101st Crescent, Bowers Drive, 2 on 19th Avenue, 2000 block of 101st Crescent, and the 1500 block of 91st Street.  Suspect described as a tall, thin young adult or teen male driving a red pickup truck with a loud exhaust.  Investigation ongoing.

 

1050 am - Shoplifting complaint from a business in the early morning hours of the 23rd reported.  Suspect has been identified and charges are currently pending.

 

113 pm - Report of a break and enter to a residence on Winder Crescent between noon and 1 pm on this date.  TV among items reported stolen.

 

135 pm - Report of an emotionally disturbed person under influence of narcotics in area of 18th Avenue.  37 year old woman located and taken into custody.

 

200 pm - Hit and run to a vehicle parked on 1400 block of 108th Street between midnight and time of complaint.  Suspect vehicle believed to be red in colour.

 

340 pm - Two vehicle collision on Highway 16 bypass.  No injuries, collision between a Semi and a pickup which sideswiped each other.  Cause remains under investigation and charges under the Traffic Safety Act are pending.

 

425 pm - Report of an assault on 107th Street.  A 43 year old male is facing one count of Assault and is expected to make his first appearance in court on Thursday July 24th at 930 am.

 

507 pm - Cell phone reported stolen from a business on 101st Street.

 

533 pm - A 45 year old male and a 53 year old female arrested for Being Drunk in Public after a complaint of two intoxicated persons on 101st Street.

 

757 pm - Report of an intoxicated male on 107th Street, reported to be yelling at people and running all over the place.  Patrols of area for subject negative.

 

825 pm - Unwanted intoxicated male refusing to leave a residence on 105th Street.  Subject located a short distance away.  53 year old man arrested Public Intoxication and held in custody until sober.

 

828 pm - Report of a damaged window to an apartment building's main door.  Complainant was very intoxicated and investigation has revealed he likely committed the damage himself while returning home.

 

834 pm - 50 year old man arrested and facing a charge of Assault after a report of a man hitting a woman on the 1300 block of 101st Street.  Victim was not injured.  All parties known to each other.

 

950 pm - Two 19 year old males arrested, both males arguing, threatening each other and causing a scene 106th Street.  Several complaints made about both subjects during evening by persons in neighbourhood.  Subjects located and taken into custody for the night around midnight.  Investigation ongoing.

 

1055 pm - Report of a stolen phone, matter relating to ongoing issues between two parties who have recently ended a relationship.

249 am - Intoxicated male causing problems at a residence, left when police called and not located.

 

529 am - Vehicle parked on Trudeau Street reported to have a damaged window.
