Severe thunderstorm watch in Southwest - July 23

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for much of the western portion of Saskatchewan for this afternoon.

The warning, which stretches from the Canada/US border to the Lloydminster area, advises that a low pressure trough will move into the province from Alberta and trigger thunderstorms.

In the Southwest, the watch is in effect for the Leader - Gull Lake, Shaunavon - Maple Creek - Val Marie - Cypress Hills, plus the Swift Current - Herbert - Cabri - Kyle - Lucky Lake forecast regions.

Some of the anticipated thunderstorms will have the potential to become severe, with large hail, damaging winds and heavy downpours.
