Severe thunderstorms roll through Southwest - July 21
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning across a wide stretch of the Southwest, with a line of severe thunderstorm producing strong gusty winds, locally heavy rain and small hail.
The warning shortly before 5 p.m. was issued for: the R.M. of Lacadena including Kyle Tyner and Sanctuary, the R.M. of Riverside including Cabri Pennant and Success, the R.M. of Webb including Webb and Antelope Lake, R.M. of Carmichael including Carmichael, the R.M. of Clinworth including Sceptre Lemsford and Portreeve, the R.M. of Gull Lake including Gull Lake and Tompkins, the R.M. of Miry Creek including Abbey Lancer and Shackleton, the R.M. of Piapot including Piapot, and the R.M. of Pittville including Hazlet.
"A north-south line of severe thunderstorms stretches across the Great Sand Hills between the Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 32. This line is moving eastward with strong gusty winds locally heavy downpours and small hail associated with it," the Environment Canada warning notes.
The remainder of the Southwest remains under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch, including the Swift Current - Herbert - Cabri - Kyle - Lucky Lake, Leader - Gull Lake, plus the Shaunavon - Maple Creek - Val Marie - Cypress Hills forecast regions.
