RCMP in North Battleford are searching for 58-year-old Wally Giesbrecht of Elrose after he failed to return to his hotel on the #16 Highway Bypass in North Battleford after going for a Sunday morning walk.
North Battleford RCMP continue to search pathways and the riverbank along the North Saskatchewan River after an Elrose man was reported missing early Sunday morning.
Wally Giesbrecht, 58, left his hotel room at approximately 7 a.m. for a morning walk. He had inquired with hotel staff about the walking bridges that go over the North Saskatchewan River and the walking paths on Finlayson Island.
His family began to search for him when he did not return to the hotel. The family reports it is common for Giesbrecht to go for walks, but it is not common for him to be gone for long periods of time.
North Battleford RCMP joined the search at 10 a.m., and the North Battleford Fire Department began an extensive search by boat along the river.
Giesbrecht is described as described as Caucasian, 5'9", 190 lbs, black hair, brown eyes, wearing a grey shirt and beige pants.
It is not determined at this time the reason for him to be missing and the investigation is still on going.
If you have any information in relation to the whereabouts or have seen Giesbrecht, call North Battleford RCMP Detachment at 306-446-1720 or RCMP Saskatchewan Media Relations at 306-780-3827.
