Moosomin RCMP



9:57 p.m.

Moosomin RCMP, along with Members from Broadview, Esterhazy and Yorkton Traffic Services, the Moosomin Fire Department and Moosomin EMS attended a two vehicle collision involving a semi and a car at the intersection of Highways 8 and 1 at Moosomin, Saskatchewan at approximately 11:00 a.m.

The south bound car was struck on the rear passenger side by the east bound semi and the car ended up in the ditch south east of the intersection.  EMS took the driver, an 18 year old female from Rocanville, to the Moosomin Southeast Integrated Care Centre.  She was transported to Regina by STARs with what are reported to be serious injuries.  A Collision Reconstructionist from Yorkton attended to examine the scene. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Moosomin RCMP is currently on scene of a two vehicle collision involving a semi and a car at the intersection of Highway #8 and Highway #1 at Moosomin, Saskatchewan.


Details are limited at this time. Traffic is moving slowly past the collision scene and motorists are asked to reduce their speed and use caution when traveling in the area.


An update will be provided as further details become available.




Saskatoon RCMP


8:30 a.m.

On Tuesday, June 24, 2014, RCMP Major Crime Unit North and Saskatoon RCMP charged the adult female who was taken into custody shortly after this incident was reported to police.  


Frances Rose Sugar (DOB: 1963-09-01) of Calgary, Alberta, has been charged with:


Second Degree Murder contrary to Section 235 of the Criminal Code; and

Failure to Comply with an Undertaking contrary to Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code.


Frances Sugar will make her first court appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court on June 25, 2014 at 9:30 a.m.  


The victim of the homicide has been identified as 34-year-old Lindey Sugar (who has ties to both Alberta and Saskatchewan), and police have confirmed her to be the daughter of Frances Sugar.  Police have also confirmed the death resulted from an altercation that took place outside of a vehicle on and near the public roadway.  


The family agreed to the release of the victim's name on the condition that their privacy be respected and they do not wish to be contacted by media.  


An autopsy is scheduled for June 25, 2014 in Saskatoon.

Over 40 calls for service/occurrences reported, including 7 False/Nuisance 911 call, 7 False Alarms, 2 Municipal Bylaw/Noise complaints, 6 Traffic complaints.



857 am - Call to a residence on 114th Street.  3 patrons failed to pay for a cab fare on a previous occasion and now driver demanding subjects pay up front and they started swearing at him.  Maybe a good idea just to not give them a ride at all.


931 am - Theft of gasoline from a business on Territorial Drive North from the previous evening reported.  Suspect vehicle information provided.


1249 pm - Report of a fraud and cheque theft.


1259 pm - 3 youths, all 14 years of age, reported missing from a group home.  All subjects located in the early evening and returned.


254 pm - Report of male wobbling onto the roadway as he was walking north on 99th Street.  46 year old male located, very intoxicated, arrested and held in custody until sober.


333 pm - Report of suspicious males with what appeared to be a large amount of stolen electronic equipment in a van.  Subjects located, were able to show proof of ownership of merchandise, however, were advised they were not permitted to be selling item without a business license.


435 pm - 15 year old youth reported missing from a group home.  Located and returned after 10 pm.


619 pm - Caller called 911 to attend a residence on 110th Street to remove her nephew because he was drunk.  When members arrived subject was already gone.  Caller was also quite intoxicated.  Then caller and another occupant of the home called 911 several more times over the next two or three hours to check if police had located and arrested her nephew yet.  So both occupants were arrested and no more 911 calls came from that residence.  PS:  The member did not find her nephew.


628 pm - Two vehicle collision at Clements Drive and Territorial Drive.  No injuries, both vehicles had to be towed from scene.  Cause remains under investigation.


702 pm - Hit and run on 108th Street around noon.  Unknown vehicle causing minor damage to a parked vehicle at that location.


802 pm - Caller contacted detachment because her 9 year old son was outside refusing to come in the house and was throwing things at the house.  After a brief discussion, caller agreed to deal with matter on her own.


832 pm - Unwanted intoxicated person at a residence on St Laurent Drive, subject left when police called.


1003 pm - 51 year old woman arrested for Mischief, intoxicated, bothering staff at a business and demanding free things.



1203 am - Report of an Assault with a weapon on Winder Crescent.  Male victim was treated for minor injuries.  Victim involved in an altercation with unknown male which escalated to point where a weapon was alleged to have been used.  Investigation continuing.


117 am - Call of persons damaging street signs of Foley Drive.


202 am - Disturbance reported on 8th Avenue.  32 year old male arrested for Assault, found to be quite intoxicated and involved in a minor physical altercation with caller.


446 am - Call of suspicious persons on 98th Street, possibly looking into vehicles.  Patrols of area negative.


5:00 am - Call to residence on Clark Drive, couple drinking and arguing and decided to contact the police to discuss their dispute.
