A trio of motorcyclists travelling though the Ponteix area on Friday received injuries during an accident when a group of riders were travelling eastbound on Highway #13.
The incident, which occurred shortly before noon on June 6, sent a 51-year-old Swift Current man to hospital in Lafleche before being transported by STARS to Regina General Hospital. He was later reported to be in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. A 41-year-old female from Medicine Hat was treated at Gravelbourg Hospital for minor injuries and released. A third motorcycle driver had minor injuries that did not require medical treatment.
An RCMP investigation has determined that the 41-year-old female, along with some other uninvolved riders, had been slowing down on the highway, however the 51-year-old male did not slow down and clipped the right side of the female's motorcycle. The male then went into the ditch and the female was knocked over on the road.
A third motorcycle driven by a 50-year-old female from Medicine Hat, although not directly involved in the collision, she laid down her motorcycle as she was startled by the accident ahead of her.
The three motorcycles were travelling together in a larger group as part of an event that was travelling through the Ponteix area.
