A 78-year-old man from Swift Current passed away in hospital on Wednesday after suffering serious injuries after being ejected from the car he was a passenger in during a June 3 car crash near Weyburn. His name is not being released at this time.
RCMP report the Swift Current man was a passenger in a car being driven by a 26-year-old man from Alberta when they were involved in a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway #39 and the Weyburn Inland Terminal access road south of Weyburn.
The RCMP investigation determined the 2002 Chrysler Intrepid had proceeded from the access road when unsafe to do so and was struck by a 2006 Toyota Tacoma which was driving on Highway #39.
The Swift Current man was airlifted by STARS to Regina and he remained hospitalized with his injuries. The 26-year-old driver was also taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.
The sole individual in the Tacoma, a 56-year-old from Midale, was taken to Weyburn Hospital for treatment and has since been released.
RCMP continue to investigate the accident.
