The Cypress Hills Destination Area (CHDA) has a new attraction, and just in time for the long weekend.
Starting on May 16, the organization is offering a new Saskatchewan Skies GeoTour to those visiting southwest Saskatchewan.
GeoTours, or Geocaching, are like treasure hunts, except done outdoors. Visitors use their GPS to find locations in the real world, and once there, attempt to find specific items hidden in the area.
“It’s one way to get everyone up and out for a hike wihout hearing any complaints,” CHDA executive director Gail Kesslar said in a press release.
According to the CHDA there are plenty of attractions in the area, but not everyone knows how to find them. This tour is designed to help people see the sights in a fun way.
“This is a tool that can help them to explore, as well as one that’s great for families to do together,” Kesslar added.
Local geocaching devotees developed the GeoTour caches. Locations include Grasslands National Park, T-Rex Discovery Centre and the Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park.
