More than 700 Saskatchewan motorists were ticketed last month during March’s traffic safety spotlight focusing on seatbelt and car seat use.
Police were on the lookout for people not wearing a seatbelt, wearing one improperly or not having their children properly restrained in the vehicle. In total, law enforcement issued 705 seatbelt violations during the month, including:
• 646 tickets for driver failing to wear a seatbelt;
• 43 tickets for passenger failing to wear a seatbelt;
• 16 tickets for driver/passenger under 16 failing to wear a seatbelt.
Motorists are reminded that mandatory booster seats for children under the age of seven will take effect June 27. More information can be found at www.sgi.sk.ca.
