A traffic safety spotlight in March focusing on seatbelt and car seat use across Saskatchewan led to tickets for more than 700 motorists.
Police were looking for people not wearing seatbelts, wearing them improperly or not having children properly restrained in the vehicle.
Law enforcement issued a total of 705 tickets for seatbelt violations over the course of the month, including 646 tickets for drivers failing to wear a seatbelt, 43 tickets for passengers failing to wear a seatbelt and 16 tickets for drivers or passengers under the age of 16 failing to wear a seatbelt.
Drivers are reminded that mandatory booster seats for children under the age of seven will take effect on Friday, June 27. Additional information is available at www.sgi.sk.ca.
