Environment Canada warns of wind chill values of -40 tonight and into Tuesday
Windchill warning issued on February 24
For a second straight night the Swift Current region will experience extreme wind chill values below -40 Celsius.
Environment Canada has re-issued a wind chill warning in the Swift Current - Herbert - Cabri - Kyle and Lucky Lake forecast region for Monday night and into Tuesday morning.
The warning notes that near identical conditions will occur as last night and earlier today, with northwest winds of 15 to 20 kilometres per hour combining with temperatures near the minus 30 mark to create extreme windchill values of minus 40 or lower.
Windchill values in the minus 40 range can cause frostbite on exposed skin in less than 10 minutes.
Swift Current's daytime high for Tuesday is forecast to rise to -18 Celsius with afternoon windchill values in the -33 range.
