Swift Current Winter Carnival Day on Wednesday, Gull Lake Winterfest runs Feb. 22
There will be no shortage of activities across the Southwest during the upcoming school break.
The City of Swift Current Community Services is hosting a Family Olympic Week from Feb. 17 to 22 with daily free activities.
The schedule start on Feb. 17 with a free Family Skate from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fairview Arena.
On Feb. 18 there will be free family curling from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the iPlex, and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. there is a free swimming evening at the Aquatic Centre.
A Winter Carnival Day is set for Feb. 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There will be indoor activities at the Family Resource Centre all day long, plus Riverdene Park will host activities including skating, tobogganing and sleigh rides.
On Feb. 20 at 8:30 p.m. there will be a lacrosse demonstration and practice at the Lt. Col. Clifton Centre.
For children who have any energy left at the end of the week, there will be an Open Gym at the Stockade on Feb. 21 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Activities offered during this evening will be volleyball, soccer, floor hockey, and a bounce house will be set up.
The Family Olympic Week ends on Feb. 22 with cross country skiing at the Chinook Golf Course. There will be fire pits set up and hotdogs and hot chocolate.

The community of Gull Lake is hosting their second annual Winterfest on Feb. 22.
Activities in Gull Lake begin at 10 a.m. with a pancake breakfast at the Gull Lake Rec Complex. The SW Quest Art and Trade Show also begins at 10 a.m., with this exhibition featuring the work of area photographers and artists.
Gull Lake's activities kick into high gear starting noon when families can enjoy sleigh rides, snow bowling, snow mini-golf, snow-pitch and street hockey. The street hockey will be a three-on-three challenge for different age groups and interested players are invited to sign up in advance. Teams are also still needed for snow-pitch. Registrations can be made with Sara Kuntz at the Gull Lake Rec Office (306-672-4449). A beef-on-a-bun supper will be held at 5 p.m., with proceeds assisting with paying for future Winterfest celebrations. A full day of activities wraps up with evening fireworks.
