Winter weather will return with high wind chill values on Sunday

After Swift Current endured a 84 kilometre per hour wind gust today, wind was also expected to have an impact on the weather Sunday tonight as Environment Canada had issued a wind chill warning in the Swift Current-Herbert-Cabri-Kyle and Lucky Lake forecast region.

However, around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday night, Environment Canada cancelled the warning, noting that the wind chill may drop to the -40 range which would reinstate a warning.

Environment Canada is now calling for a forecast in Swift Current of -29 Celsius, with windchill values dropping to -40 overnight. On Monday, the wind chill is expected to fall into the -34 to -42 range.

While the Southwest was not severely impacted by the blowing snow problems which plagued more eastern portions of Saskatchewan, tonight's wind chill values will fall close to the warning category.
