Plans are in the final stages of preparation for the big Lancer-Portreeve Centennial Celebration, October 11 to 13 in Lancer. The centennial celebration is being hosted in conjunction with Lancer's 43rd annual Chokecherry Festival.
In June of 2012 we put out a call for volunteers and a group of 14 people representing Portreeve and Lancer stepped up to the plate and the work began. Committees were set up and everyone worked diligently at the task they set out to do.
Plans have been finalized and posters with details of times and events have been distributed in a number of communities. Centennial details are also available online www.rm229.com or from the Village of Lancer.
The celebration stars on Oct. 11 with a free kick-off lunch, a Talent Show at 7 p.m., featuring past performers, along with a fireworks display at 9 p.m. Oct. 12 is filled with activities for every age and the centennial concludes on Oct. 13 with an Inter-faith service and pot-luck dinner.
Our communities have joined together to make this a great celebration.
Those interested in attending are reminded to register online (www.rm229.com) or phone 306-689-2925.
