After temperatures reached the 35 Celsius range across portions of Saskatchewan today, Environment Canada has issued a series of severe thunderstorm watches and warnings across the province for this afternoon and evening.
As of 4 p.m., the only Southwest region to be placed under a severe thunderstorm watch was the Shaunavon - Maple Creek - Val Marie - Cypress Hills forecast region.
Environment Canada is advising there is the potential for the development of severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds.
Environment Canada is advising "a system tracking across the southern portion of the province is triggering thunderstorms over south central and Southwestern portions of Saskatchewan late this afternoon. Some of these thunderstorms will have the potential to become severe giving large hail, damaging winds or heavy downpours.The thunderstorms are expected to track into south eastern areas this evening before weakening and exiting into Western Manitoba overnight."
