Thunderstorm watch issued for Southwest corner

Severe weather from Alberta could spill into Southwest Saskatchewan later today, prompting Environment Canada to issue a severe thunderstorm watch for the Shaunavon - Maple Creek - Val Marie - Cypress Hills forecast region.

Environment Canada is advising that conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms this evening in Southwestern Saskatchewan, with the potential for strong wind gusts and heavy rain.

A storm developed in the Lethbridge/Taber region earlier this afternoon, with Environment Canada warning that this storm system had the potential to produce 100 kilometer per hour wind gusts, heavy rainfall and large hail.
