The last day of June is bringing nasty weather to the Southwest, with Environment Canada issuing a series of sever thunderstorm warnings and watches for the Southwest.
Earlier this afternoon Environment Canada was tracking a slow-moving cluster of severe thunderstorms which were delivering heavy downpours. The storms were moving moving eastward at about 25 kilometers per hour, prompting severe thunderstorm warnings for the Cabri, Pennant and Success areas, with the storms moving toward Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park.
The entire Leader-Gull Lake, plus the Swift Current - Herbert - Cabri - Kyle - Lucky Lake forecast regions were under severe thunderstorm warnings on Sunday afternoon, with the Shaunavon - Maple Creek - Val Marie - Cypress Hills forecast area under a severe thunderstorm watch.
"Hot and humid conditions are creating a favourable environment for the development of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening," Environment Canada advised. "This is an alert to the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds."
