Severe weather could strike Southwest corner

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm for the Southwest corner of the province for Tuesday night.

Both the Shaunavon - Maple Creek - Val Marie - Cypress Hills plus the Leader - Gull Lake forecast regions are under warnings with the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds.

Environment Canada advised that thunderstorms are forecast to develop along a trough line over Montana this afternoon, and as these thunderstorms move into Southwestern Saskatchewan this evening they may produce severe weather.

As of Tuesday afternoon, all of Southern Alberta was under warnings or watches for severe thunderstorms.

Swift Current's evening forecast is for a 30 per cent chance of showers, with the risk of a thunderstorm. Wednesday's forecast has a daytime high of 28 Celsius along with a 30 per cent chance of showers, with the risk of an afternoon thunderstorm.
