Voters will head to the polls this spring for a federal election following the passing of a non-confidence motion in Ottawa.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper will be asking the Governor General to dissolve Parliament and pave the way for a general election.

“By forcing an unnecessary election in this time of fragile economic recovery, Michael Ignatieff and his coalition partners are irresponsibly and recklessly putting at risk Canadians’ jobs, our economy and stable government,” Harper stated in a press release shortly after the non-confidence vote.

The Federal Liberal Party, who tabled the motion of non-confidence, countered that this is a necessary election.

“This government does not have the confidence of the House of Commons,” stated Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff. “The Conservatives have broken a basic rule of our democracy and can no longer remain in office."

In the Cypress Hills-Grasslands Constituency, Conservative incumbent MP David Anderson, will be challenged by three confirmed candidates in  Duane Filson from the Liberal Party; Chris Carnell from the Green Party; and the NDP's Trevor Peterson.

The Conservatives did not fall because they ran a bad gov't, (although they did,) they fell because they placed themselves above The House of Commons. when the Speaker has to tell a Prime Minister he is breaking the rules of The House, wow!
