Shaunavon's Carolyn Illerbrun has been appointed as chair of the Saskatchewan New Democrats election planning committee for the 2011 provincial election.
Illerbrun was unveiled as the election planning committee chair on Monday, along with the announcement of Dale Schmeichel as campaign manager for the 2011 election.
An NDP press release highlights that Illerburn brings both a strong rural background and labour perspective to the party. She was born and raised on a family farm, has worked for 20 years in the area of agricultural retail for Viterra in Shaunavon, and is the first female president of the Grain Services Union. She is also a member of the Saskatchewan NDP executive serving as one of the party vice-presidents.
“We are simply thrilled to have both Dale and Carolyn on board as we prepare for the 2011 election,” Saskatchewan NDP President Jane Wollenberg said. “Carolyn brings a necessary rural focus as well as a labour movement perspective and Dale has a very successful history with the party. These are precisely the types of people we need in place as we move to renew our policy, nominate candidates and win back government in 2011.”
“I am very excited about how our election planning committee and our policy renewal process are coming together and I welcome both Carolyn and Dale to our team,” stated Saskatchewan NDP Leader Dwain Lingenfelter.
