The provincial government has announced that Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park north of Swift Current will receive $1.4 million in upgrades over the next year.

Improvements will be made to the park’s portable water system, in addition to electrical expansions and upgrades, which will begin later this summer.  The expansions will bring current electrical services up to code, while also meeting the requirements for newer recreational vehicles.

The current water system supplies 339 campsites and other park facilities.  The new upgrades are expected to be ready when camping season starts again in 2015.

To account for new projects like this one, as well as current capital and maintenance spending, funding to provincial parks will grow by 4.6 per cent.

Last year a total of 198,486 people visited the park.
